I have been at working at Ben's for over 20 years and have been on the Next Door side since we opened it in back in 2008. I am very proud of what we have built and really appreciate the loyalty from our customers over the past 6 years. If you haven't come to dine with us yet please come and in and ask for me. I can't wait to meet you!


Special Events Manager

With 20+ years in the event management, catering and design field, I am proud to share a winning perspective with the energetic and talent team of managers at Ben’s Next Door, and guests as well.  We have everything you need to plan private events, a meet and greet, or dinner parties—all we need is you!

Catering / Shipping Manager

I have been with Next Door for over 5 years and handle the off-site catering, vending, large order drop-off services as well as oversee Ben's Chili Bowl's gift shop on the 2nd floor above Next Door. I am also the shipping manager and ship out Next Door's Famous Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and She Crab Soup to folks all over the country. Kamal and Nizam Ali

As sons of Ben and Virginia Ali, Founders of Ben's Chili Bowl in 1958, Kamal and Nizam Ali with their wives and family opened Ben's Next Door right next to their beloved Chili Bowl. The idea was simple, to create a full service restaurant with the same friendliness and community atmosphere as Ben's Chili Bowl, with exceptional food, signature dishes, live music and delicious and creative drinks. In creating a place to watch sports games, enjoying U Street's hottest Brunch, catch great live music with no cover charge or meeting new friends at the 53ft bar, the dream has been realized.
